SHORT SYNOPSIS
Returning Confederate soldier Tom Dula (23) finds himself caught between his long-time lover Ann Melton and the young, pregnant Laura Foster. When Laura is murdered, circumstantial evidence and jealous testimony point to Tom. Told through parallel trial montages and intimate flashbacks, DOOLEY reveals a tangled web of love, syphilis, cover-ups, and betrayal — all grounded in the actual court records. Tom goes to the gallows, claiming innocence. The audience is left divided, still wondering who really killed Laura Foster.
In the red-clay hills of 1840s Gold Hill, North Carolina, an orphaned Jewish miner falls for a Cornish immigrant woman, until brutal jealousy triggers a murder 800 feet underground. When a blue ghostly light and a loyal puppy’s whimpers rise from the Randolph Shaft, the dead return to exact their price.
